The past two years have been tough for everyone, thanks to the fatal coronavirus that took the lives of millions of people across the globe, forcing us to stay cooped up in our homes.
Hence, when situations came a little under control, many decided to let loose and party like there’s no tomorrow towards the end of the year.
Innumerable people thronged the beaches, pubs, and nightclubs of the country’s party capital Goa on New Year’s Eve and the visuals are just scary in the current times.

People forgot that COVID hasn’t subsided completely. Wearing masks, maintaining social distancing, and following hygienic routines are still a top priority.
Similar visuals of hundreds of tourists celebrating Christmas and New Year and violating the COVID guidelines flooded the internet. Take a look:

Stunned how Indians are celebrating their #NewYear in #Goa. No masks or any compliance of covid protocols & social distancing can be seen! #Lockdown isn’t the option. People need to be aware.

This is probably the reason why despite multiple attempts at eradicating coronavirus from the country, we are returning to ground zero.
FYI, 33,750 new cases were detected in the last 24 hours taking the country’s tally of active cases around 1,45,582. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the number of confirmed cases of the new Covid variant, Omicron, has climbed to 1,700.
Looking at the scenario, we shouldn’t blame anyone but ourselves if the authorities again take lockdown-like strict measures to curb the spread of the virus.
