Reddit User Says Parents Shouldn’t Create FB, IG Account For Kids & Share Pics, Desis React

Nowadays, there is this new trend in the online world – new parents making a Facebook and/or Instagram account for their kids and posting several visuals of them from it. Is it a good thing or a bad thing? People online on Reddit have been discussing it on length.

The conversation started when one user wrote: People who create social media accounts for their toddlers, I hope your kid grows up and sues you.

Calling it “attention-seeking”, the user further noted that an act like this compromises children’s privacy at such a young age and many might be subjected to bullying in the future.

“But what’s most horrific is that in the vile world we live in, where privacy is clearly an imaginary concept, people not only share the most private images of their kids (without their permission of course), but also subject them to second-hand embarrassment/jokes/bullying for future.”

The user further suggested that creating a whole separate page/account for kids and sharing their visuals without their consent should be an offence.

“Creating a whole separate page for the child with cringe captions should be an offence. It snatches away the agency and privacy of a future adult in more ways than one can begin to imagine.”
