You might have seen lots of weird marketing gimmicks online. But have you ever seen a product mentioning its founder’s alma mater on the product?
Well, a picture of a milk packet highlighting ‘founded by IIM Alumni’ has been doing rounds on the internet which has gathered a lot of reactions online.
Taking to Twitter, a user Namanbir Singh asked, “What’s the point of writing your college name on a milk packet?” He also went on to clarify:
To clarify, no hate for the company or their products. But trust should be build on the basis of quality, not college tags.

People were quick to react to the image alleging that the owner wants to sell the product using his college degree as its USP and a marketing tag.
The IIM stands for "Indian Institute of Milking my IIM degree till the day I die" https://t.co/EKBizLAFcM

Probably it is nudging someone to declare which institution he is an alumni of Tea and Milk has close relationship. https://t.co/i68bAa7gtj

The problem lies more with the people who value such tags so much, thereby creating a need for founders to advertise it.
It even impacts startup fundings, let alone purchase decision for a milk packet https://t.co/maeUx6ZkBB— Vikas Prakash Singh, IRS (@VikasPrkshSingh) March 14, 2022
To add creditability to the milk, which may otherwise not be so credible? https://t.co/YNk5eHbptS

Same people who preach on Twitter that college degrees don’t matter! https://t.co/11dQYZf1Xg

Let's all calm down and take solace in the fact that they didn't write which IIM they studied at. https://t.co/iw5Ng0wGvG

This tweet just shows the trust and value people place on the name of institutions in India. No harm in it, it's promotion, I know! But the blind faith that people may put on unrelated stuff can have far reaching consequences! Just saying! https://t.co/frajzZRvfB

That's the beauty of IIT/IIM/Harvard alum, they are always kind enough to let you know where they studied https://t.co/59yiWzaCxP

I have noticed that a lot of people are insulting the college, while it’s not their fault.
The individual is at the fault as he used his college as a marketing tag.

Some also supported the move.
It's just taking advance of Indian mentality.
I see no issues, Dhande main sab chalta hai https://t.co/YB4AhGBMJc pic.twitter.com/q1z63qeIyk— Pandemic Pep (@afc_anubhav) March 14, 2022
Why not. What’s is the harm of being proud of a student of one of the top colleges in the world. It’s their wish and it’s a good one.

A bollywood celeb does not endorse “NSD alum”
If a founder has to use his college degree to impress his users, its a shows of lazy business branding.

Many highlighted how the founder of this milk company was feeding the insecurities of us Indians who are obsessed with IIM and IITs. It comes out as if the owner intends to say that if a kid drinks this milk, he’ll get into IIM. What do you think?
