Even though Saha didn’t reveal the journo’s name back then, it was unearthed that it was acclaimed sports journalist Boria Majumdar who did the act.
Soon after Saha’s complaints, a three-member board was compiled to look into the matter by BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) who found Majumdar guilty of intimidating Saha, reported Hindustan Times.
They went ahead and imposed a two-year ban on Majumdar concluding that his actions were “in the nature of threat and intimidation.” In the lengthy letter, the board listed sanctions being imposed on Majumdar.
The BCCI Committee recommended the following sanctions to the Apex Council of BCCI. The Apex Council of BCCI agreed with the recommendations of the BCCI Committee and imposed the following sanctions:
- 2 (two) year ban on getting any accreditation as a member of the press in any of the cricket matches (domestic and international) in India;
- 2 (two) year ban on getting any interview with any registered players in India; and
- 2 (two) year ban on access to any of BCCI and members associations owned cricket facilities

Good. Much deserved. Media sometimes think they are bigger than everyone else. Man needed to be humbled https://t.co/PZa2alam2u

And the irony is @BoriaMajumdar was denying it and planning to file a defamation suit on @Wriddhipops – now we know who is right and who is wrong. https://t.co/HXsHOUHrT7

Very good move by @BCCI Thank you for upholding the dignity of Champion W Saha. Shrewd ppl taking undue advantage of the niceness of good players is a very common affront. https://t.co/e0N8qZ2zNF

In his defense, journalist Majumdar in a video claimed that Saha had tampered with screenshots of their WhatsApp chats and is soon to file a defamation case against him for damaging his reputation and credibility.
There are always two sides to a story. @Wriddhipops has doctored, tampered screenshots of my WhatsApp chats which have damaged my reputation and credibility. I have requested the @BCCI for a fair hearing. My lawyers are serving @Wriddhipops a defamation notice. Let truth prevail. pic.twitter.com/XBsiFVpskl
