Aashiqui 2 facing upwards, opening weekend collections of Rs 13 million

Aditya Roy Kapoor and romantic action film Shraddha Kapoor 'Aashiqui 2' seems to be courting the box office, having won approximately Rs.13 crore in the opening weekend despite the fact that the business of Hollywood "Iron Man 3" also came on the same day and is giving a tough competition, trade experts say.

Made on a budget of Rs.12 crore, the first collection day of the film was Rs.6.35 crore and the second day was collected Rs.6.75 crore, according to a statement.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh praised the film and tweeted: "Aashiqui 2 'has had a fantastic start. Though the numbers still are being compiled, is one of the greatest openings to a film starring newcomers!"

The film, an adventure as director Mohit Suri, released Friday. It was co-produced by Bhushan Kumar and Mukesh Bhatt under their respective flags - T Series Vishesh Films and Films.

"The occupation of the film is 40 to 50 percent on average. More youth and college crowds are getting underway for the film", Rajesh Thadani of Multimedia Combines told IANS.

He added: "The film may do better in the coming weeks. Launch of 'Iron Man 3' could be a reason for the low occupancy," he added.

"Aashiqui 2" attracted the attention of the audience after the release of the song 'Tum hi ho' a romantic series with meaningful lyrics, which received more than 1,852,947 views on YouTube within 10 days of its launch.
