It's been two years since the Ghayal sequel was announced. In fact, the teaser of the 1990 revenge drama aired during the screening of Ready Salman Khan in 2010. However, the film starring Sunny Deol failed to gain momentum and has faced several obstacles, with stories of several directors to govern the project area time and again.
For all we know, Tigmanshu Dhulia was cordoned off to direct Ghayal 2 given its growing popularity after Paan Singh Tomar. But Dhulia was later replaced by Ashwini Chaudhary (Jodi Breakers fame) and longtime friend of Rahul Rawail Sunny paaji was also considered. If a tabloid report is to be believed, the makers have roped favorite director kilo ka haath dhai actor, Rajkumar Santoshi to direct the project.
We are told that even the veteran writer Piyush Mishra who was working on the script and the dialogue has chosen the project. All this uncertainty fueled rumors that the sequel has been put on the back burner. And this volatility and the improbability regarding the fate of the film has made producers Viacom 18 is removed from the project because they do not want to delay any longer. And if a popular trade weekly report is to be believed, Viacom 18 has placed a legal notice in Sunny repay the amount of the firm.
