Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan received his zillionth honour on Wednesday at Whistling Woods International’s (WWI) sixth convocation ceremony. The actor was honoured with the WWI Maestro Award by Subhash Ghai, filmmaker and founder of the film school. Renowned flautist Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia and santoor player Pt Shivkumar Sharma were also bestowed the award. The ace musicians have composed music for Bollywood films such as Silsila, Chandni, Lamhe and Darr, among others.
Bachchan shared on Facebook, “Another Award from the Whistling Woods film institute, run by Subhash Ghai … and there for the convocation of their students passing out moment ..”
He added, “The Award was called the Maestro Award … but the fact is that I am least deserving of it, for the true maestro are standing beside me -Pt Hari Prasad Chaurasia, the flute genius, and Pt ShivKumar Sharma, the master of the santoor .. such an honor to be in their company .. they even did a film for me ..’Silsila’ ..”
Big B further added in a statement, “It’s a proud moment for me to see the future of film industry today. I am grateful to Subhashji for building a platform that will enhance the skills of actors, filmmakers, screenplay writers and more. There is a huge amount of interest in filmmaking so I wish all the luck to the graduating batch that will now bear the burden of taking the industry to newer heights.”
