Amitabh Bachchan’s fake video on Narendra Modi goes viral

Amitabh Bachchan is quite miffed. But why? A video that uses his voice without permission has gone viral and creates an impression of him endorsing Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi to become India’s next Prime Minister.
The actor had expressed his disappointment on Twitter and Facebook. Big B said, “FAKE !! FAKE !! FAKE !!! APPALLED AND ANGERED BY THIS ILLEGAL ACT ON ME .. PUTTING IT UP NOW, DO READ AND SEE AND CONDEMN .. !!!”
He elaborated, “DEAR ALL … FAKE VIDEO CIRCULATION … In the year 2007, I did a Lead India campaign for The Times of India, where we talked of the glorification of the country and India,” he wrote. “SOMEBODY has made a fake video by using my voice and text of what I spoke in the original, and falsely and mischievously, interspersed it with visuals which indicate a campaign for the promotion of the Hon Chief Minister of Gujarat, Shri Narendra Modi!!”
“I wish to state that this is an illegal act, inviting strong action, one that I am appalled by, and one that has no concurrence from me at all… I have brought this to the notice of the concerned authorities, and asked my Digital Team to find out its origin so that we can initiate action against the perpetrator. This is a blatant misuse and infringement of the Copyright Act, and needs to be condemned by all those that become a part of this platform,” he wrote. “(I am) infuriated and angered.”Modi himself tweeted upon seeing the video: “Agree with @SrBachchan . The author of the fake video should take action immediately and apologize to Amitabh ji.”
A few hours after Big B protested on social media, Utpal Jeevrajani, a Rajkot based music composer apologised and admitted that he had uploaded the video on YouTube. The composer said that though he had uploaded it online, he denied creating the video. He said, “I have nothing to do with this video. I just got it on WhatsApp from one of the many groups I am associated with and when I found it interesting I uploaded it.” Jeevrajani also added that as soon as he realised that the video has infuriated Big B and the Gujarat CM, he apologised to both of them and deleted it from YouTube.
After the video was removed, Big B wrote on Facebook, “FB 308 -Thank you all for your understanding and immediate response. It is not what the purpose of the video is meant to convey. I am non political and have been since I left politics, but what is appalling is how the misuse of my voice has been done. And I shall take the strongest action against this person, whose ID has been found .. go to my Twitter handle and see .. love.”
