The first South African India Film and Television Awards will be held in Durban on September 6
Director Anurag Kashyap’s cult action film Gangs of Wasseypur and actor Sridevi’s comeback movie English Vinglish lead the nominations of the South African India Film & Television Awards (SAIFTA) 2013.
Actor Ranbir Kapoor’s Barfi! and Sushant Singh Rajput’s Kai Po Che! have also received a few noms. Indian television shows and actors will also be recognised at SAIFTA, along with South African film and TV counterparts.
While Indian actor-producer John Abraham will be given the SA Youth Icon trophy, the country’s ailing ex-President and revolutionary Nelson Mandela will be honoured with the Madiba Award. Indian designer Manish Malhotra will be given the Contribution to Fashion award.
