Akshay Kumar’s action flick rules single screens !

While Akki’s last outing Once Upon Ay Time In Mumbai Dobaara failed to get cash registers ringing at the box office, his latest action flick Boss has got a good start

After Blue (2009), director Anthony D’Souza and Akshay Kumar have come together for the second time with Boss. And this time the duo has managed to pull crowd in the theatres. The makers released the film on October 16 (Bakri Id) which was a bank holiday considering it will boast their film’s prospect at the ticket windows. Well, their plan seems to have worked to an extent.
According to Box Office India, “Boss grossed around 11.50 crore nett on its first day as per early estimates. The figure is decent for a normal day but not for a holiday. The film collected very well at single screens across the country but multiplex business was a total let down from North to South.”
Exhibitor-distributor Akshaye Rathi says,” Considering that the pre-Diwali weeks are among the worst to release films with high stakes in; Boss has managed to get a very good opening.” Trade analyst and critic Taran Adrash tweeted, “Boss strong at single screens, but dull at multiplexes.” Considering the movie had a midweek release, Boss did fairly well on the second day (October 17) as well. As per Box Office India, Akshay’s film raked in around 7.25-7.50 crore on day two which is decent.
“The sustainance has been good on the 2nd day despite it being a working weekday and the collections are bound to get better than those of Thursday over the weekend, while things would have been even better if the film had performed well at the multiplexes, this one will do just fine on the strength of its might at the single screens” adds Rathi.
With no big films releasing this week, it seems like Boss will have a smooth sail during the weekend. And if the film continues to do well at single screens, who knows Boss may well break Rowdy Rathore’s box office record as well.
