Welcome Back for Naseeruddin Shah and Dimple Kapadia, not Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha !
Not so long time ago, there was buzz that Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha would come back together (onscreen of course) for Anees Bazmee’s Welcome Back. The duo was last seen together in Yash Chopra’s Silsila in 1981 and since then, they’ve never shared screen space. Now we hear that they won’t be seen in Welcome Backeither and the film will cast Naseeruddin Shah and Dimple Kapadia instead.
So, why is it that Big B and Rekha won’t come back together on the big screen? Well, Rekha, who was offered the role of a wealthy fashionista in the film backed out citing date issues. Apparently, the dates were clashing with her upcoming film, Indra Kumar’s Super Nani. According to a popular tabloid, Amitabh has denied that he was even approached for the role of RDX (earlier played by the late Feroz Khan inWelcome).
So now, reportedly, Naseer will be playing the role of the don, RDX and Dimple will play the love interest of Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar’s characters. Naseeruddin and Dimple had earlier acted together in Homi Adjania’s Being Cyrus (2005). The lead actors of Welcome Back are John Abraham and Shruti Haasan.
Well, though we will get to see Dimple-Naseer together on big screen, we’ve lost yet another chance of seeing Amitabh-Rekha together. Deep sigh!
