The debutant actor talks about his maiden film and more in an exclusive interview

Siddharth Gupta, who will make his Bollywood debut with Ekta Kapoor and Bejoy Nambiar’s joint venture Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi, is quite excited about his maiden film. The film also stars Simran Kaur Mundi, Ashish Juneja and Pallavi Batra, In a candid chat, the debutant actor talks about his experience while shooting for the film, expresses his wish to work with Sunny Leone and more. Excerpts from the conversation…
You are all set for your big Bollywood debut, Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Hogayi. Don’t you think that the title is very different and quirky?
Yes, it is. See jhand hogayi is a very colloquial term, which is used in North India. And I have been brought up in Dehradun, so I know what jhand means. In simple Hindi, it means vaat lag jaana. So, the title is very different and it’s one of the USPs of the film.
We have heard that Ekta Kapoor is a tough taskmaster on the sets? Is it true?
Well, she is a perfectionist. Whenever she is making a film, she wants it to be a perfect. And who doesn’t? She wants her final product to be absolutely perfect like all other producers in our industry.
How did you bag the film?
I was studying engineering in Dubai, but then I realised that this is not what I want to do. I didn’t want to do a 9 to 5 job. So I came back to India and decided to become really good at acting. I joined theatre and was doing several other stuff. So one fine day, I was performing at a Holi party, which Ekta Kapoor had also attended. After few days, I got a call from Bejoy Nambiar’s office for an audition. So I gave my first audition and it went quite well. Few weeks later, I got a call that I have to come for some more auditions. There were a series of auditions that happened with other characters of the film as well. Finally after a wait for a month, I bagged the role for Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Hogayi.
How was your experience working with your co-stars?
It was really good. There was a lot to learn actually, because they had the experience of facing the camera. They were really supportive.
There is this new song titled Tarzan, which has been released recently. And people are finding it really cheesy….
I think it’s very catchy. Yes, people are saying that it’s annoyingly catchy and cheesy, but it’s a fun song. And we wanted to do something which is very different. We always wanted the Tarzan song to be unusual.
Talking about Tarzan, Sunny Leone is being considered to play Jane in the remake of the 1985 film Tarzan, which starred Kimi Katkar and Hemant Birje. Given a chance, would you like to play the role of Tarzan here as well?
Well, I would look really young in front of her. But if the script is good, then why not? Every youngster in our country including me wants a chance to romance Sunny Leone.
So that was an end to my questions. Now let’s have a small but fun Rapid Fire round, shall we?
Sure. Bring it on!
One Bollywood star whom you consider as your role model?
Hrithik Roshan.
When did you have your first kiss?
I was in 8th standard and she was in 11th.
At gunpoint, if you were forced to reveal a secret of yours, what would it be?
That’s a tricky one. See my life is an open book, so I don’t have any secret.
Name one female actor from Bollywood with whom you would love to go on a wild date…
Parineeti Chopra. I find her really interesting.
If you had the option of picking your Jane who would it be?
