While Bollywood actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan have made an integral place for themselves on the small screen, TV actors like Ram Kapoor, Ronit Roy and Siddharth Shukla have also found a niche for themselves on the big screen. Earlier telly actors would play character roles on the 70 MM screen, the trend is now changing with television actors taking on the lead roles in Bollywood films. We bring to you six TV actors who will play lead roles in 2014 films.
Ram Kapoor: We have seen the Bade Achhe Lagte Hain actor essay character roles in films like Student Of The Year and Agent Vinod. However, this time the actor will play the third lead to Saif Ali Khan and Riteish Deshmukh in Sajid Khan’s Humshakals. Ram has also been a part of the film’s promotions. This film might just give Ram’s Bollywood career a spin.
Siddharth Shukla: The actor attained popularity with his TV show Balika Vadhu. However he was spotted as a hero material by director-producer Karan Johar on the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 6. KJo always said that Siddharth has the hero quality and should try his luck in films. Who knew that few months down the line, this ace producer himself will offer Mr Shukla a meaty role in Dharma Productions Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania. Sid has Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt for company in HSKD.
Ashish Juneja: Famously known for his role as Zeeshan from Kya Mast Hai Life, this television actor had auditioned for Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi and the actor was surprised to know that he was selected for the second lead. Appreciated for his impeccable comic timing and an animated face, Ashish garnered much appreciation for his role in KMKJHG. It’s yet to know what this newbie has to offer in the future.
Jay Bhanushali: The Dance India Dance host will soon make his Bollywood debut opposite the hottie Surveen Chawla in Vishal Pandya’s Hate Story 2. Erotica is one of the biggest USP’s of his film. Jay who made his television debut with Ekta Kapoor’s Kayamath has been appreciated for his toned body and macho avatar in the film.
Surveen Chawla: This sizzling babe made her TV debut with a Balaji Telefilms daily soap Kahin Toh Hoga. From the girl next door image to a recent hottie, Surveen has come a long way. HS2 is Surveen’s first Bollywood film as a lead heroine. The actor has been a talking point amongst many for her bold look in the film. Hope the sexy babe has much more to offer besides the oomph factor.
Neil Bhoopalam: Best known for his role as Aditya Singhania in Anil Kapoor’s TV series 24, Neil has also played a small role in No One Killed Jessica. However, this dashing actor is soon to make his big debut as a lead actor opposite Anushka Sharma in her maiden production venture NH10. Rumour mills suggest that Neil replaced National award winning actor Rajkummar Rao in the film. Hope he lives up to the expectations!
