Being in the numbers game is one of the most tiring thing

Salman Khan's new film Kick has been the talk of the town ever since its first look was revealed. Directed by Sajid Nadiadwala, the film also stars Jacqueline Fernandez, Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Randeep HoodaWhile expectations are sky high from Kick, Khan isn’t under any pressure. In fact, when we recently caught up the Dabangg Khan he seemed quite confident about his film doing well at the ticket windows. We asked him about his very hot co-star Jackie, why he loves encouraging NRI starlets in Bollywood and what gives him kick in real life. Read on to know what he said….
Is Kick the exact remake of the Telugu film?
It’s inspired from that film; the plot is of that film but the product is entirely different
How difficult was it for you to perform the stunts?
There are some action sequences were you feel ke mehnat ki hogi and there are some were you feel ke kuch nei karna pada hoga but usme bahut mehnat lagti hai. This is one film where director ki mehnat jyada hai and the production value is also high. The canvas of the action is so big that you feel ki actor ne bahut mehnat ki hogi. Also, if you are an athlete or have done cycling and played sports then doing action or jumping and running is nothing. Obviously, in films it’s done at a bigger scale. 12 ya 15 mala jyada hota hai while jumping (smiles). You also see 30 odd cars blowing up one after another. I think the main hero of these action sequences is the heart and jigirof a director. Coz the same action scenes can be done at a smaller budget.
Did you use body double for the action scenes?
Not really. See, you do stunts but then jab long shot lena hota hai toh fir kyun karna. Anyways you try once to see whether you can do it or not. Then you do it but then the same scene needs to be shot from different angles toh tab body double karte hai. Coz jab hero dikh hi nei raha toh kya fayda na. Even the building looks so small toh actor kahan se dikhega. And uss chakkar mein injury ho gai, kahir injury ka toh koi chance hi nei hai 40 maale se (laughs) toh it doesn’t make sense.
After Ek Tha Tiger, this is one film whose trailer has been appreciated across class and masses…
Yeah, I do think most films of this genre have that kind of buzz. Be it Wanted or Dabangg, action films do have that hype and buzz around them. Even younger films which have bit of masti, comedy and larger-than-life kind of feel have that buzz.
You are working with two sexy B-town beauties Jacqueline Fernandez and Nargis Fakhri in Kick. How was the experience?
You know, it’s amazing that everybody finds them really really hot but I find them really sweet.
Was there any kind of nervousness on the sets?
In me? Yes, there was…(laugh)
Eid has been lucky for you. So how does it feel returning with an Eid release coz last year you had none…
We were not ready for Eid last year. But I think any festive season is a good time to release a film coz you have long holidays and it can also accommodate more than one release. And national holidays do make a difference to the box office collection.
How do you handle all the pressure?
No…I don’t have any pressure coz I am not in the number game. If the film does well, it does well. If it doesn’t, obviously it bothers coz you have given your best. But being in the numbers game is one of the most tiring thing. So we are not into this…
What gives you kick?
Ah…. Getting kicked gives me a big kick… (smiles)
The train scene in the trailer is brilliant. Whose idea was it?
Yes, it’s a great idea and I don’t get scared of CG trains. But with real train, I have had a bad experience. In Tere Naam, I was supposed to walk the track and this one guy had to dive and save me. He panicked and the train was coming from behind. He even told me that main to darr gaya. And I was walking on the track on his conviction that he will he come and he’ll push me. That guy said maine risk liya kyunki agar aapko kuch ho jata to waise hi yeh log mujhe maar dete. But the train had hit my leg so that was really close.
From Katrina Kaif to Jacqueline Fernandez to Nargis Fakhri, you have promoted a lot of firang babes…
Tum Sonakshi Sinha ko nei dekhta. Sneha Ullal, Zarine Khan, Sonakshi, ye Turkistan se aayi hain kya. Russina thi kya…
You have sung for your film Kick. Do you sing at parties? Is it your passion?
Whatever I do, I like doing. It’s my hobby. But here it was compulsion (smiles). But I am trying to enjoy this as much as I can. The day I don’t enjoy it, I will stop…
