Celebrate this Dahi handi with Salman Khan, Hrithik Roshan and Sonakshi Sinha

Come Janmashtami, the only thing which fascinates everyone except for mouth watering sweet treats, is Dahi Handi. The exhilarating climb over a pyramid of humans, to break the a butter filled pot tied at a great height, brings in large crowd of onlookers. While you gear up for catching the Dahi handi in your area, Bollywoodlife takes you on flashback mode as we look at Bollywood stars who celebrated Dahi handi onscreen.
One of the film’s most important scene takes place at a Dahi handi celebration as our hero Vijay Dinanath Chauhan played by Hrithik Roshan is introduced to us. We involuntarily root for  Hrithik Roshan as he runs through the crowd, all covered in colour, climbing the mountain of men to break the pitcher filled with butter.

Sonakshi Sinha and Prabhu Dheva in Oh My God!
The popular song Go Go Govinda from Akshay Kumar’s OMG! is the hot favourite in Dahi handi celebrations in recent years. The song picturised on Sonakshi Sinha and Prabhu Dheva is an out and out dance number. We all know that Rowdy Rathore director is a terrific dancer, but it wasDabangg gal who surprised every one with her swift moves. Sona also became the first actress to break the matka onscreen.

The flirtatious song, Chandi Ki Daal Par, filmed on Salman Khan and Rani Mukerji in the movieHello Brother, is one of the best picturised Dahi handi songs. Not only do we see a young and dashing Salman oozing with energy as Makhan Chor, he also goes shirtless before climbing the human pyramid to break the handi.

Sanjay Dutt’s critically acclaimed 1999 gangster flick, Vaastav, has an interesting dahi handi song. In the song Har taraf hai yeh shor, we see Sanju Baba  celebrating the festival with his family and friends. Yes, of course he breaks the handi too!

While Bachchan Sr’s holi song Rang Barse is quite popular among the masses, the superstar also has an equally catchy Dahi handi number in the film KhuddarMach Gaya Shor sung by iconic singer Kishore Kumar, is picturised on Bollywood’s then angry young man showing off his peculiar dance moves. The song also features the lovely Parveen Babi in traditional Maharashtrian attire. At the end of all the song and dance, Big B breaks the butter filled handi with his head.
