Vikram Bhatt’s latest offering does not live up to the director’s claims
Vikram Bhatt’s latest offering, Creature 3D, starring Bipasha Basu, Imran Abbas Naqvi, Mukul Dev, Bikramjeet Kanwarpal and Deepraj Rana will hit the theatres this Friday. So here’s what you need to know about it…
What’s it about?
The story of Creature 3D is about a girl, Ahana Dutt (Bipasha Basu) who starts a resort in the middle of a forest. She has a few guests there, one among them being the male lead Kunal Anand (Imran Abbas Naqvi). Soon, her guests begin to get attacked by something which turns out to be a creature, a Bhram-Rakshas. With the help of Kunal and Professor Sadana (Mukul Dev), Ahana takes up the mission of getting rid of the creature.
What’s hot?
Precious little as there is in the movie, the most commendable part is Vikram Bhatt’s attempt to come up with Bollywood’s first creature feature. The effort itself is applause worthy. A lot of efforts have been taken to get the first impression of the Creature right, be it the scaly back, the piercing green eyes or the menacing claws that reach for you through the 3D screen.
What’s not?
This could take a while… The already weak story line was further reduced to nothing by the uneven performances of the main characters. Moving on, the character of the Creature was very ill-defined. From easily breaking doors to struggling with the heroine for a gun, it kept shifting, confusing us all along. The creature only looked scary as long as its face was a mystery. The face should have been better worked on. If you, finally, happen to get past the ridiculousness of the plot, you’ll be hammered yet again with cliché-crammed dialogues. Vikram Bhatt movies are usually known for their music, but Creature 3D disappoints you there as well with easily forgettable songs. Bipasha is average and debutant Imran Abbas has barely anything to do than play her second fiddle.
Verdict
Rehashing this tried and tested formula, Vikram Bhatt tries to give his latest venture a new face in the genre, but fails due to lack of imagination.
