Karan Johar’s production venture Ungli starring Emraan Hashmi, Kangana Ranaut, Randeep Hooda and Sanjay Dutt released yesterday alongside Anubhav Sinha’s Zid which features Priyanka Chopra’s cousin Mannara, Karanvir Sharma and Shraddha Das. While we expected Dharma Productions’ venture to fare well, it has failed to get cash registers jingling. And the case is same with Zid. Despite being high on bold content, Mannara’s acting debut hasn’t managed to pull in crowd to the cinema halls. Zed Plus starring Adil Hussain and Mona Singh also released on the same day and hasn’t fared well at the ticket windows.
According to early estimates, Emraan-Kangana starrer collected approximately Rs 4 crore on day 1 (Friday). As for Zid, the psychological thriller is expected to have grossed around Rs 2 crore by the end of day 1. Though Zed Plus has managed to impress the critics, the box office numbers are very low. However, the collections may pick up in the coming days courtesy good word-of-mouth. But we’ll have to wait and watch for now!
