Rajkumar Hirani’s much-awaited directorial venture PK starring Aamir Khan, Anushka Sharma, Sanjay Dutt, Boman Irani and Sushant Singh Rajput is slated to release on December 19. However, the film has already created good buzz courtesy its controversial first poster and recently released trailer. Considering its coming together of Hirani, Aamir and Vidhu Vinod Chopra once again, expectations are quite high from the film. While PK looks interesting and impressive, let’s find out where the music of the film stands…
Tharki Chokro: Sung by Swaroop Khan, this song is folksy Rajasthani number is a pleasant hear. The music is desi yet very upbeat and lyrics by Swanand Kirkire are quite interesting. But what makes Tharki Chokro worth hearing is Swaroop’s dumdaar voice. The talented singer has nailed this track too perfection. Overall, this is a fun song with catchy music and lyrics. Nothing too serious or soul-stirring sorts of track. Just hear the song, enjoy and groove along with your friends. Also, the video is equally entertaining especially its a delight to watch Sanjay Dutt shake a leg.
Love Is A Waste Of Time: This is crooned by Sonu Nigam and Shreya Ghoshal. While both the singers done a great job singing the English portion in Bhojpuri accent, Love Is A Waste Of Time still may not appeal to most people for the simple reason that its not a typical Bollywood number with thumping music. It seems as if the singers are trying to tell a story then sing a song. While I found this track just about okay, hearing it once wouldn’t hurt.
Nanga Punga Dost: This is a bit similar to Love Is A Waste Of Time because again its not a typical Hindi song. It’s seems more like a story narration. Though Shreya Ghoshal has done a fine job crooning this number, its a bit too long and gets boring midway. Maybe if we watch the video and hear the song, there is a possibility of liking this track a bit more. Yes, the lyrics are funny but that doesn’t make up for the rest of the things.
Chaar Kadam: Shaan and Shreya Ghoshal have lent their voice to this romantic number which is simple and has beautiful lyrics. But again this track is a bit different from the usual romantic numbers we get hear. It’s not too mushy and you may not like at first go. But hear Chaar Kadam again and the song will slowly grow on you.
Dil Darbadar: For this track, the makers have roped in the very talented singer Ankit Tiwari and I am glad they did because as soon as the song starts you know you’re in for a treat. Apart from crooning this song, Tiwari has also composed the music for it and maybe that’s the reason why I felt its similar to his hit song Galliyan from Ek Villain. Nonetheless, Ankit’s dumdaar voice is worth hearing once.
Bhagwan Hai Kahan Re Tu: Sonu Nigam has sung song which has been penned by Swanand Kirkire and composed by Shantanu Moitra. This is isn’t a fun track but an emotional number. The lyrics are meaningful and the music is very subtle and soothing. Also, Sonu Nigam has done a mighty job as a singer. However, I felt Bhagwan Hai Kahan Re Tu is too long. Otherwise, its a nice track especially for all those who love slow and soul stirring songs.
