- Due to corona virus pandemic , the whole world is in lock-down . As a result of which , even the theaters have been shut down for indefinite period .
- Therefore , the makers of the films are worried about when will the situation improve and when will theaters re-open ?
- But another major point for them to worry about is even if the theaters re-open , will the audience be eager to come to the theaters ? Because watching a movie in a theater means sitting together with a large number of people . Till now , Social Distancing has been proven to be the only way to prevent Corona Virus from spreading . Why will audience take such a big risk that too only for entertainment which is definitely not a priority in today's scenario .
- Its been more than a month since the lock-down has been imposed in India . OTT platforms have seen a huge rise in their viewership . More and more people are buying their subscriptions and are prefering to enjoy the content from the comfort of their home .
- So , even OTT platforms are obliged to get more new content for their audience .
- On the other hand , due to uncertainty , even the makers of the film are trying to recover their investments and prevent losses , by releasing their films directly on streaming platforms .
- As a result , OTT platforms have approached a number of film makers to convince them to release their films online .
Note :- Since , the movies are coming straight to digital platforms, skipping the theatrical release , that does not mean that they will not be available on Satellite (television) . It is being said that the movies will be premiered on satellite channels as well , 08 weeks after their digital debut .
