Since 2019, a couple of police forces have been inducting Indie dogs, including Uttarakhand and Bangalore police. According to them, Indie dogs are way better than foreign breeds. Contrary to popular opinion, Indie dogs can adapt to different kinds of weather conditions, have very good protective instincts, and also have impressive sight and smell abilities.
On the other hand, they can be extremely loving and gentle, making them an amazing pet to have. People online have been tweeting pictures of their pet Indie dogs and are revealing how they aren’t aggressive.
Indies aren’t aggressive. They’re not ugly. They’re not dirty. They are gorgeous and unique. They’re ridiculously sturdy dogs that adapt beautifully. They’re gentle & loving and literally perfect #lovemyindie
Please feel free to share your gorgeous indie under this thread pic.twitter.com/hPCDIdYIw6— Kale Me Maybe (@KithRags) December 28, 2021
The thread is also to encourage people to adopt Indie dogs instead of buying foreign breeds. Have a look at some of the pictures here:
Flamenco from friend’s place. He was adopted when he was a puppy after a bad accident that affected his jaw. Now he’s in good care.
I’m meeting him after 2 years in this picture. He was playing with me for a while & slept on my lap like this pic.twitter.com/tjTg5mZoW2

Many people end up buying expensive foreign breeds like Siberian Huskies who find it extremely difficult to adapt to the Indian climate. Indie dogs are lovely creatures who deserve a loving home just like any other dog.
