With COVID deciding our fate from the past two years and more, people are stuck at home with their jobs that aren’t 9 to 5 anymore. At first, it seemed fun to work from home, but now, the stress has multiplied with employers expecting employees to spend whatever time they are awake sitting in front of their laptops and attending meetings that could have been an email.
This obviously had left many with hardly any time to eat, sleep, Netflix and chill. Probably that’s the reason why all of us come up with jugaads that help us complete our office work quickly leaving us with ample ‘me’ time.
This employee also came up with a plan to minimize efforts at work that would save time to be used to play video games and do other chores during work hours.
The user ‘Throwaway59724’, who works at a law firm, penned a long post detailing how difficult it was to be stuck for 8-hours at the office pretending to work when the job didn’t take that much time.
“Firm hired me as an IT specialist to handle all of their digital evidence for trials. The law firm was in the process of changing their evidence managing system to Cloud-based and wanted me to be the only person with admin access to the Cloud, everyone else would be limited to view only and would work on a local network drive. Sounds great, but I quickly realized this was the only task they expected me to perform in my 8-hour shift. This was in no way an 8-hour job, so I was stuck pretending to work at the office most of the time.”
Therefore, when COVID happened, like all of us, the Reddit user was also asked to work from home. That’s when the user devised a mechanism that saved a lot of time.
Passing time during office hours and getting paid 90,000 (probably USD yearly or maybe Rs 90,000 per month in India, maybe? Who knows!) would make a lot of us guilty, however, the anonymous user concluded that as long as everyone is happy there’s no harm done.
This brilliant idea was loved by a lot of people online.
