From 2020 to 2021, homicides in the Lone Star metropolis have dropped from 254 to 220, and violent crime has nosedived by 12 percent since May last year.

After he was hired in 2021, Dallas Police Chief Eddie Garcia immediately oversaw a decrease in crime.
Dallas police made themselves more visible in violent areas, seizing 27% more guns and 8% more drugs in 2021 than in 2020.
Residents in the mostly Latino and African-American neighborhood of Oak Cliff in Dallas (above) want an increase in "non-police action," rather than getting rid of police altogether, said community leader Derrick Battie.
