Bigg Boss 8 TV review: Salman Khan

This is my favourite time of the year. It’s that time when I prepone my dinner time from 9 PM to 8:30 PM and stop entertaining guests. Yes, the eighth season of Bigg Boss has finally hit the TV screens. The opening episode of this high voltage reality show was aired yesterday (September 21). Did it impress or depress? Let’s analyse…
What works:
The concept. A big shout out to the content team of Bigg Boss 8 for coming up with something quirky this time around. They have really up the ante by making the 15 contestants not live in a luxury house, but a plane, which appears to be crashed in the middle of a jungle. When they said, ‘sabki lagegi vaat’, they meant it. We have said this a zillion times and we will say it again, no one but Salman Khan can host this show. His outspoken and bindaas avatar is much loved by everyone. We can’t imagine any other B-town biggie hosting Bigg Boss. Can you?
And now to the contestants. Upen Patel, the good looking, absolutely Greek God stuff is one of the 15 contestants this season. And he is definitely going to be the eye candy inside the glass walled house. Female fans have just got another reason to watch Bigg Boss 8, apart from Salman of course.
Praneet Bhatt too is seen in the house who brilliantly portrayed the character of Shakuni Mama inMahabharat had some positive energy within him. Let’s just hope he finds his Duryodhana inside that house soon.
This year the firang import of the house is the pretty Natasa Stankovic who has already wooed the Kick actor. She will be the Elli Avram of this season, we are sure of it.
Okay, just so there is no confusion, that lady, who performed in a black dress to Pyar Ki Ek Kahaniwas Minissha Lamba. We couldn’t recognise when we saw her. But yes, she seems quite sweet. She won’t cause any turbulence inside that house, rather will calm it, she said. But for how long? We wonder…
Diandra Soares, the model, who has always been in controversies for her bald look clearly comes with her giggle pills. Her antics with Sunil Grover, who was dressed as Gutthi was highly entertaining. Especially, their video was completely hilarious.
Karishma Tanna and Sonali Raut, the two hotties were the first ones to be introduced. tagged along in Salman’s entry performance. If you saw the episode, you must have noticed Karishma’s bitchy side on seeing Diandra. While, I haven’t formed any opinion on Sonali yet, but Karishma is going to be that lady inside the house, which will be hard to deal with.
As the Bigg Boss tradition goes, the makers have roped in one gay contestant in the name ofSushant Divgikar. But he seemed to have some problem with Kareena Kapoor for he felt that he should have been cast opposite Salman in Bodyguard and in the Fevicol song. But then he is very vibrant and multi-talented. He will be an entertainment package inside the Bigg Boss house.
What does not:
Arya Babbar made a dashing entry, but poured trash when he sang a shauchalya rap, which was highly annoying. We hope he doesn’t do that inside the house. Also I won’t be surprised if he turns out to the next Armaan Kohli. And the fact that he performed with him said a lot.
TV actors Gautam Gulati, Sukirti Kandpal and Sargun Mehta performed together. However, Sargun didn’t enter the house. That’s because Gautam, who was given a power of sorts to take one of the two ladies with him inside the house chose Sukirti over Sargun. Honestly, this whole banter between three looked quite fake.
Deepshikha Nagpal, Puneet Issar and RJ Preetam, the three members of Bigg Boss’ Secret Society have a major advantage inside the house. With the powers vested in them by Bigg Boss, they will have authority on the rest of 12 contestants. And though this idea is unusual and first time in the history of this show, it’s still very unfair, according to me. But then this idea will add petrol to the fire, which will be entertaining for sure.
