Shaadi.com To Venture Into Matchmaking Arena For LGBTQ+ Community, Twitter Divided

The life of people identifying as a part of the LGBTQ+ community isn’t easy in India. While same-sex relationships have got a green signal by Indian law, same-sex marriages are still recognized as illegal.

However, several same-sex couples have put a ring on their relationship and got into matrimony in their unique way. And in a bid to help the LGBTQ+ community find their perfect match, matchmaking company Shaadi.com might soon open up their services for them, reported News18.

During a chat with Business Insider, the company’s founder and chief executive Anupam Mittal hinted that they’re looking at entering the matchmaking arena for the LGBTQ+ community and people living abroad.

“We see ourselves as a platform for companionship and matchmaking…That could mean for different markets, different regions, different countries, different sexes. We don’t have a problem with that. But we will significantly expand the kind of things that we do from a matchmaking context,” Mittal said.
