Arshad Warsi Claims Amitabh Bachchan’s Production Company ‘Abandoned’ Him After Debut Film

“Mujhe laga nahi tha ke mein 25 saal tak tik paunga idhar.” – Arshad Warsi had said this upon completing 25 years in the Hindi film industry. And why wouldn’t he say so? His career has been full of ups and downs. Can you imagine that the actor found no work after his brilliant performance in ‘Munna Bhai’? Or that he was replaced by Akshay Kumar in ‘Jolly LLB 2’ despite ‘Jolly LLB’ being a success?

Arshad Warsi also opened up about being “abandoned” by Amitabh Bachchan’s production company after his first film ‘Tere Mere Sapne’ in 1996. In an interview, when he was asked who is his ‘Godfather’ in Bollywood, Arshad was quick to reply “Amitabh Bachchan” because he launched him, reported ETimes.

But he went on to add:

“I started my career with ABCL, Joy Augustine, they got me in the profession. But then they left me, abandoned me. So I don’t know what to call them. God father or what, I don’t know.”

ABCL (Amitabh Bachchan Corporation Ltd) was Amitabh Bachchan’s business venture which he started in 1999. But, his company soon ran into debt. According to Hindustan Times, the company focused on production, distribution, and event management.

In a 2013 interview, Big B revealed that he owed more than Rs 90 crores to different people, who later appeared on his doorstep demanding their money back and were “abusive” and “threatening”.

“Without a doubt that was one of the darkest moments in my 44-year professional career,” he had said.

His life turned around after the success of ‘Mohabbatein’ and later, ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’.

It is no doubt that both Amitabh Bachchan and Arshad Warsi are incredible actors. We hope that they continue to do the good work that they do!
