Not Just Indian Students, Bangladeshi & Pakistani Nationals Were Saved By ‘Operation Ganga’

While the Ukraine-Russia war is still going on, several countries are trying their best to evacuate their nationals from war-torn Ukraine. The Indian government launched a special operation ‘Operation Ganga’ to evacuate Indian citizens.

Under this special operation, about 18 thousand Indians have been brought home safely from Ukraine’s neighbouring countries, reported NDTV.

And it’s not just Indian nationals who are being given humanitarian assistance and are being rescued from the war zone. Several citizens of different countries including Pakistan and Bangladesh are being rescued by the Indian team.

Recently, a Pakistani student, Asma Shafique, was rescued by Indian authorities and is en route to Western Ukraine for further evacuation out of the country.

In the short clip, Shafique was seen thanking the Indian embassy in Kyiv and Prime Minister Modi for evacuating her.

“I want to thank the Indian embassy of Kyiv for supporting us all the way here as we were stuck in a very difficult situation and I also want to thank the Prime Minister of India for supporting us. Hope we get home safely because of the Indian embassy,” she said.

According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), India had also evacuated nine Bangladeshi nationals. Several students from countries like Nepal, Tunisia were also rescued under this operation.

The ministry also informed that it had evacuated all Indian students from Ukraine’s Sumy.

Great job by the Indian team. We hope everyone returns to safety ASAP.
